What is Ludo King?

Ludo King is a mobile version of Ludo, the classic board game played across South Asia and beyond, and a cousin of Parcheesi. Each player has four tokens. You roll the dice, move tokens out of your base and around the board, capture other players' tokens by landing on them, and race all four of yours home first.

It's made by Gametion, an Indian studio, and has been on Google Play since December 2016, with more than a billion downloads. Much of that popularity comes from how easy it is to play together: against the computer, by passing one phone around the family, or online with friends using a room code.

Ludo King also includes Snakes and Ladders, and adds new modes over time, like the one in the latest update. It's the most popular of the board games on Android.

What's new in Ludo King

The Ludo King app on Google Play was last updated on November 2, 2026. Google Play lists the version as "Varies with device" and requires Android 7.0 or newer. The release notes on Play say:

• New mode added.
• Bug fixes.

Gametion doesn't name the new mode in the Play notes; you'll find it on the game's home screen after updating.

Play with friends online

Create a private room and share the code, and friends join from their own phones wherever they are. It's a big part of why Ludo King became a way for families and friends to play together from different cities.

Play against the computer

Choose a computer opponent to play solo, any time, without a connection. It's a good way to learn the rules and practise strategy before playing friends online, and you can set how many computer players join.

Local pass-and-play

Play with family on one phone, passing it around after each turn. No internet or accounts are needed.

Six-player mode and Snakes and Ladders

A larger board lets up to six people play at once. Snakes and Ladders is included as a separate game for quick, all-luck matches with younger children.

Quick modes and themes

Shorter game modes are good when you don't have time for a full match, and you can change the board's look with themes.

Ludo rules in brief

Roll a six to bring a token out of your base. Move tokens clockwise by the number you roll. Landing on a square with an opponent's token sends it back to their base, unless it's on a safe square (marked with a star). Rolling a six usually gives you another roll. The first player to bring all four tokens to the home triangle wins. House rules vary, and Ludo King lets you pick some options before a game.

Tips for winning more games

Get as many tokens out of your base as you can early on, so you have choices for every roll instead of being stuck with one token. Use the safe squares, marked with stars, to wait out danger. Don't rush one token home while the others sit exposed. And when you can capture an opponent who's close to home, it's usually worth it: sending them back costs them far more than it costs you to wait a turn.

How to install Ludo King APK on Android

Install Ludo King from Google Play if you can. Without Play Store, install the official game carefully.

1. Check your phone runs Android 7.0 or newer.
2. Get the game only from Google Play or Gametion. Files promising guaranteed sixes or free coins aren't official.

Ludo King is a game of chance played for fun and in-game coins only. Be wary of other apps or websites that offer Ludo for real money: they're a different kind of product, often regulated or banned depending on where you live.

You'll find modified Ludo King APKs that claim to control the dice or give endless coins. They aren't from Gametion, they often carry adware or malware, and they don't work in online matches. APKPeer only links to the official game.
