What is Clash of Clans?
Clash of Clans is a strategy game from Supercell, the Finnish studio behind Clash Royale and Brawl Stars. You build a village around your Town Hall, collect gold and elixir from mines and collectors, put up walls and defenses, and train an army. Then you raid other players' villages for their resources while they try to raid yours.
The other half of the game is your clan. Join one with friends or strangers, donate troops to each other, chat, and fight Clan Wars and the monthly Clan War League against other clans. That social side is why many players have stuck with it for years.
Clash of Clans has been on Google Play since September 2013 and has more than 500 million downloads. Progress is measured in Town Hall levels, each unlocking new buildings and troops. It's the best-known strategy game on mobile.
What's new in Clash of Clans 18.647.5
Version 18.647.5 reached Google Play on October 20, 2026, under the title "Builder's Been Busy." According to the release notes on Play:
- Builder Suggestions rework. An all-new Builder Menu with filters and categories, to make choosing your next upgrade easier.
- Menu changes. New additions to the Battle Menu, Player Profile and Clan Chat.
- Quality-of-life improvements. Numerous smaller changes across the game.
Supercell publishes detailed balance changes and update notes on its official site and in the game's news section.
Key features
Build and upgrade your village
Place buildings, walls and traps, and upgrade them to make your village stronger and produce more resources. Builders do the upgrades, and each upgrade takes time, from minutes early on to days at higher levels.
Attack with troops, spells and heroes
Train troops like Barbarians, Archers, Giants and Dragons, add spells, and lead heroes such as the Barbarian King and Archer Queen. Planning where and in what order to deploy them is the heart of the game.
Clans, Clan Wars and Clan War League
Clans let you donate troops to teammates and fight together. Clan Wars pit two clans against each other over two days, and Clan War League runs a week-long tournament each month with extra rewards.
Builder Base
A second village with its own buildings, troops and battle rules. It's a change of pace from the main village, and it progresses separately.
Gold Pass and events
The monthly Gold Pass gives extra rewards and upgrade boosts for completing challenges, and regular events bring special troops and temporary bonuses.
Tips for new players
Keep all your builders busy, since idle builders are the biggest waste of time in Clash of Clans. Upgrade resource collectors and storage early, then defenses before walls. Don't rush to the next Town Hall level before upgrading the one you're on; a strong lower-level village is better than a weak higher one. And join an active clan early: troop donations make attacks far easier.
Town Hall levels explained
Your Town Hall level decides what you can build and how strong your troops can get. Each new level unlocks more buildings, higher upgrade caps and new troops or heroes, and the game matches you mostly against villages at a similar level. That's why players talk about "maxing" a Town Hall: upgrading everything available at your level before moving up. Doing that keeps your defenses strong enough to protect your resources.
How to install Clash of Clans APK on Android
Install Clash of Clans from Google Play if you can. Without Play Store, install the official game carefully.
- Check your phone runs Android 7.0 or newer.
- Get the game only from Google Play or Supercell. Private server and "free gems" files aren't official.
- If you downloaded the file from APKPeer, check that the SHA-256 matches the one on this page. We currently link to Google Play only, so there's no APKPeer file for Clash of Clans.
- Open the APK and allow your browser or file manager to Install unknown apps when Android asks.
- Tap Install, open the game and connect it to Supercell ID in the settings so your village is saved.
- Turn off the install permission under Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps.
Is Clash of Clans APK safe?
The official Clash of Clans APK is safe. It's published by Supercell on Google Play and rated Everyone 10+ for fantasy violence. Google Play doesn't mark it as containing ads, and its in-app purchases run from $0.29 to $239.99 per item.
Protect your village with Supercell ID, because Supercell support can only recover accounts it can verify. Never share your Supercell ID login, and ignore people offering to sell accounts or "free gems," which are common scams.
You'll also find private server APKs and modified versions of Clash of Clans. They aren't made by Supercell, aren't connected to your real village, can contain malware, and break Supercell's terms of service. Using bots or third-party tools on your real account can get it banned. APKPeer only links to the official game.
Clash of Clans vs alternatives
- Clash Royale, also from Supercell, uses the same characters in fast, real-time card battles that last a few minutes.
- Boom Beach is Supercell's other base-building game, with island battles and co-op Task Force operations.
- Brawl Stars is a quick team shooter from Supercell, better for short action-packed sessions.
If you enjoy planning, building and playing with a group of friends over the long term, Clash of Clans is still one of the best on Android.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install Clash of Clans on Android?
Open Google Play, search for Clash of Clans and check the developer is Supercell before tapping Install. It needs Android 7.0 or newer. It's free to install, and Play keeps it updated automatically, so you never need to download an APK by hand. Avoid copies from other sites: they aren't from Supercell and may be altered, so the safest way to play Clash of Clans is the official listing.
Is Clash of Clans free?
Yes. Clash of Clans is free to download and play, and Google Play doesn't list it as containing ads. Supercell earns money from optional in-app purchases from $0.29 to $239.99 per item, mainly gems and the monthly Gold Pass, which speed up progress. You can reach the top levels without paying, but it takes much longer.
How do I save my Clash of Clans village?
Connect your village to Supercell ID in the game's settings. Supercell ID saves your progress to your account, so you can move to a new phone or play the same village on several devices. Without it, losing your phone can mean losing your village.
Are Clash of Clans private servers safe?
No. Private servers are unofficial copies of the game run by third parties. They need a modified APK, they aren't connected to your real village, and they can contain malware. Supercell doesn't support them, and their terms of service prohibit using them.
Does Clash of Clans work offline?
No. Clash of Clans needs an internet connection at all times, because your village, battles and clan are stored on Supercell's servers. If your connection drops, the game reconnects and keeps your progress safe on the server. A stable connection also helps during attacks, since disconnecting mid-battle can count as a loss.
