How to remove line breaks
- Paste your text into the Input box.
- Tick Keep paragraph breaks if your text has paragraphs you want to keep.
- Tick Join without spaces only for codes or data that shouldn't have spaces added.
- Copy the result.
Why text ends up full of line breaks
Text often arrives with a hard break at the end of every line:
- PDFs store text as separate lines, so copying a paragraph gives you one line per row of the original page.
- Emails that were forwarded or replied to are often wrapped at around 70 characters.
- Old documents and plain-text files were frequently wrapped by hand.
Pasted into a website, a chat app or a word processor, those breaks make text look broken, with short ragged lines instead of flowing paragraphs.
Keeping paragraphs
With Keep paragraph breaks on, the tool treats a blank line as a real paragraph break and keeps it, while single line breaks inside each paragraph are replaced with spaces. That rebuilds the original paragraphs from PDF text in one step.
If your source has no blank lines between paragraphs, the tool can't tell where they were. In that case, remove all breaks and add paragraph breaks back by hand where needed.
Related clean-up
Removing line breaks can leave double spaces where a line ended with a space. Run the result through remove extra spaces to tidy them up. To count the words in the cleaned text, use the word counter.
Nothing is uploaded
The text is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere, so it's safe to use with contracts, emails and other private documents.
