How to convert PNG to JPG
- Tap Choose PNG images or drag your PNG files onto the box.
- Set the JPG quality. 90% keeps photos looking the same while shrinking them a lot.
- Choose a background color for transparent areas. White is the default.
- Tap Convert to JPG, then Download each file.
Each result shows the original and new file size, so you can check the saving before you download.
When PNG to JPG makes sense
PNG is a lossless format, which is great for quality but makes photos large. Converting to JPG is the right move when:
- A form, website or app only accepts JPG files, or has an upload size limit.
- You're emailing or messaging photos and want them to send quickly.
- You saved photos as PNG by accident, for example from a screenshot tool or an editor.
It's not always the right move. For screenshots with small text, line drawings, or logos with sharp edges, JPG compression can create faint smudges around edges. Keep those as PNG, or use the image compressor to shrink them as WebP instead.
Transparency and background color
PNG images can have transparent areas, such as a logo with no background. JPG can't store transparency, so those areas need a solid color. White suits documents and most websites; black or a brand color might suit a dark design. Choose the color before converting, because it becomes part of the image.
Choosing the quality
| Quality | Good for |
|---|---|
| 90–100% | Photos you may print or edit again |
| 80–90% | Most sharing, websites and email |
| 60–80% | Very small files where some softness is acceptable |
Private by design
The conversion happens in your browser. Your PNG files are never uploaded, there's no account to create, and nothing is added to the images. When you close the page, the converted files are discarded unless you downloaded them.
Need the opposite? Use the JPG to PNG converter, or the general image converter for WebP.
